I was thrilled to have the opportunity to work on a large, 90m2, wildlife mural in Greystones' Park and Ride. The mural, my first one ever, was commissioned by Wicklow Arts Office for Culture Night 2020.
Greystones is a seaside town, so I chose to paint marine animals native to the nearby Irish Sea – including the basking shark, common seal, bottlenose dolphin, crab, tuna, cormorant, seahorse and jellyfish. While you might be lucky enough to spot an orca or even a basking shark while out at sea, most of these creatures remain hidden from view, especially from the shore. This mural serves as a reminder of the rich marine life that could still be living alongside us – beneath the sea's surface.
Thanks to the wonderful weather (Indian summer!) I could work 11-12 hours a day and complete the mural in less than two weeks.
You can see the final result in the video I posted on X (then Twitter).
And I made it! :D
