Animals of Irish Name and Origin is my most recent children's book, and my most ambitious book project so far, written, illustrated, and designed by me.
This book is made for sharing. Together with a child in your life, you’ll discover forty-nine animals with Irish names and Irish origins – from familiar native wildlife to long-established breeds that have been part of Ireland’s story for generations. Each one comes with engaging facts, thoughtful storytelling, and eye-catching illustrations that invite curious minds to linger.
Along the way, young readers are introduced to Ireland’s natural world, learning how animals, place, and history are all beautifully connected. It’s designed to spark questions, conversations, and the kind of curiosity that sends children back outside to look a little more closely.
Supported by The Arts Council of Ireland, this project took over two years to complete, and I’m so happy that soon I'll be finally able to share it with families.
Published on the 12th of March 2026 by Natural World Publishing, the book can be bought in bookstores nationwide, via Natural World Publishing's website here, or through my own online shop here.
