Bees kind of scare us. Everyone while growing up must have had an incident of getting stung by a honey bee, at least once in their lifetime!
Now imagine if bees were as big as in this bee art! Would they become one of the scariest animals of the world? I bet so!
But we love honey! Thanks to honey, our breakfast and desserts are blessed with a heavenly, scrumptious and everlasting lip-smacking taste that leaves us asking for more. And let's not forget about the beeswax, also produced by honey bees, that is a chief ingredient for manufacturing candles and organic cosmetics.
With over 20,000 species of bees found on earth, there are only 8 known species of honey bees.
Belonging to the genus "apis" (Latin for bees), honey bees are truly magnificent creatures. Relying on pollen and nectar from flowers as their only source of food, honey bees are also the world's most important pollinator of food crops. It is estimated that nearly one-third of food consumed by humans every day is pollinated mainly by bees.
These bee drawings are part of my personal project I have been working on between paid commissions – please come back here in a while (or follow my Instagram and Facebook account) if you'd like to see the project’s development.
